ABOUT THE BUSINESS
We are a fast-growing, profitable e-commerce brand with approximately £1.2m annual revenue, selling across the UK, US, Canada, Australia, EU (mainly Germany), and international markets via Shopify, Amazon, Etsy, and wholesale channels.
THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced Fractional Financial Controller to take ownership of our financial operations, reporting, and regulatory oversight. This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for ensuring financial accuracy, tax compliance, and regulatory readiness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Control & Reporting:
- Own the accuracy of company accounts
- Reconcile revenue across Shopify, Amazon, Etsy
- Oversee month-end close
- Maintain clean chart of accounts
- Resolve discrepancies proactively
VAT & International Tax:
- Prepare and review UK VAT returns
- Manage EU/international VAT/GST processes
- Ensure correct VAT treatment
- Liaise with VAT agents and advisors
Cash Flow & Forecasting:
- Maintain 13-week rolling cash flow forecast
- Monitor FX exposure and payout timing
- Flag upcoming liabilities
- Support inventory planning
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
- Oversee EPR obligations (UK & EU)
- Coordinate EUDR-related compliance where applicable
- Maintain compliance calendar
- Liaise with compliance providers
- Flag regulatory changes with financial impact
Accountant & Advisor Liaison:
- Act as main point of contact
- Prepare schedules and respond to queries
- Reduce founder involvement
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Financial Controller / Finance Manager / Accountant experience
- Strong UK VAT knowledge
- International e-commerce experience
- Hands-on Xero experience
- Marketplace familiarity
- Proactive and commercially minded
